Fabu had not been exposed to gaming on multiple platforms such as Xbox and VR. VR gaming had just come out, and Fabu wanted to play VR games often. These were not only fun for her but all of us as a family.

Our strategy was to expose her to a variety of gaming choices besides pc games like Minecraft and Roblox and app games like plants vs. zombies. We knew that eventually, she would pick the games that she was most comfortable with or piqued her interest the most.

She initially was very interested in VR games and was fascinated by them. We recorded a lot of VR games, including her most favorite, Job Simulator. The therapeutic tool with these videos was for her to describe her surroundings, what she was doing and what she was about to do. Since VR was so new, we did not know if there would be any long-term effects on her vision, so we decided to take a break from VR and encourage her to play any other games on either Xbox, pc, or mobile.
She decided to go back to PC games, where she was most comfortable. Fabu began choosing to play scary games, which was no surprise as she always liked to watch scary movies.

Trust us; this was not something we encouraged since neither one of us really like scary movies, especially FabuDad.

She started playing PC games like Five Nights at Freddie and Dead by Daylight. She was captivated by playing these scary games, especially Dead by Daylight because she played online with others. Even though she was not interacting directly with them, this was something she enjoyed since she had started playing online in Roblox.

After seeing her interest in some shooter games on VR, we decided to introduce her to Overwatch on PC. Overwatch was a recent release at that time and looked like a game she would enjoy.

Today, five years later, Overwatch and Dead by Daylight are 2 of her favorite games, which she still plays regularly.

We took a break from gaming on PC and introduced her to Xbox games.
Fabu went through all the games on Xbox and chose Resident Evil 7 as her first Xbox game to play. We were not surprised that she had gone back to her favorite genre of choice. She played Resident Evil 7 so intensely and got into it in a way we never imagined. She has played other Resident Evil games through the years but will always say that her most favorite one has been Resident Evil 7.

During her recordings of the scary games, the positive outcome was that she expressed herself more and used a more expansive vocabulary.

We invite you to join us on our daily journey, where every day is a new therapy session.
